A bill that helps border cities like Sioux City compete with neighboring states for new jobs has passed the Iowa Senate and is on the way to Governor Branstad's desk.
The bill extends the Targeted Jobs Program for an additional five years.
The Targeted Jobs Program provides a withholding tax credit equal to 3% of the wages of qualifying employees for up to a ten year period. The program is designed to help businesses expand and compete with their out-of-state competitors.
Senator Rick Bertrand of Sioux City was instrumental in getting the measure through the state senate.
