THE UNIDENTIFIED WORKER WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL, BUT DIED OF HIS INJURIES.
MIKELSON SAYS FIRST SHIFT OPERATIONS IN THE BEEF CARCASS PRODUCTION PART OF THE PLANT HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED FOR THURSDAY.
SAFETY AND OPERATIONS PERSONNEL ARE INVESTIGATING THE MISHAP AND OSHA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.
A family of five has been left homeless after a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Sioux City.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 1300 block of West 6th street around 5pm after a family member said they saw smoke in an upstairs bathroom.
Three people in the home got out safely, while two other family members weren't home. Smoke was coming out of the top of the house when firemen arrived.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Congressman Steve King filed nomination petitions Wednesday to certify his bid for Iowa's new 4th Congressional District seat.
The current 5th District Republican Congressman collected over 8500 signatures qualifying all 39 counties.
Iowa will lose one of its current five Congressional seats for the upcoming election because of the last census....placing King in the new larger district.

The name of the Sioux City motorcyclist who died in a crash in Le Mars on Tuesday has been released.
Le Mars Police say a motorcycle driven by 22-year-old Matthew Risor of Sioux City struck the rear of a SUV driven by 27-year-old Ashley Williams of Le Mars.
The SUV was wanting to make a left hand turn and had yielded to oncoming traffic when Risor driving his motorcycle struck the vehicle.
Risor was airlifted to a Sioux City hospital where he had died as a result of his injuries.
