SIOUX CITY---The Nebraska-based Boys Town organization is opening an office in Sioux City as it expands to provide in-home services to help at-risk families in northwest Iowa and northeast Nebraska.
Boys Town says it was selected by the Iowa Department of Human Services, and anticipates helping over 500 families.
A ribbon cutting is scheduled in Sioux City on Oct. 26. Boys Town is national organization dedicated to helping children and families.
It's headquartered at Boys Town, a suburb of Omaha.
It was founded in 1917 by a Roman Catholic priest, the Rev. Edward Flanagan, and made famous by the 1938 Academy Award-winning movie "Boys Town" that starred Mickey Rooney and Spencer Tracy.
