Groundbreaking is set for Friday for the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City.The casino is being built in the west end of the city's downtown area at 4th and Water at the historic Battery Building.
Demolition of other buildings in that area is continuing for the 100-thousand square foot gaming complex. Eventually the former Bomgaars building between Pearl and Douglas will come down, along with Road Show video and the current Milwaukee Wiener house.
A new Milwaukee Wiener will be constructed where the old Bomgaars building stands.
The Iowa racing & Gaming Commission will approve the casino contractor on Thursday at their monthly meeting. They will also get a project update from Sioux City Entertainment President Bill Warner. Friday's groundbreaking is set for 11am.
