A rural Homer, Nebraska man is hospitalized with injuries after his car collided with a train on Sunday afternoon.
The Dakota County Sheriff says 51 year old Tony Josta was lifeflighted to Mercy Medical Center after his car was struck a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train at 225th Street and Highway 77 around 12:20pm.
Authorities say Josta was traveling eastbound on 225th St and was struck by the northbound train.
Josta’s vehicle sustained major damage. No train personnel were injured.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and Burlington Northern Santa Fe train officials are investigating the accident.
