Siouxland Community Health Center broke ground Monday afternoon on a 5000 square foot expansion of its facility.
Interim C-E-O Mari Kaptain-Dahlen says the expansion will provide badly needed space for the health center and its patients:
The center serves low income patients who cannot afford expensive health care. Kaptain-Dahlen says the center has so many patients, the current waiting room overflows on a regular basis:
The project was made possible through the Affordable Care Act and a $1.3 million competitive grant award from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
The health center moved into its current facility in 2009 and has served Siouxland for 21 years.
There are 190 employees at Siouxland Community Health which serves over 23-thousand patients annually.
