U-S Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack was in Orange City Thursday night to watch his wife Christie debate Congressman Steve King.

The former governor of Iowa, says he's pleased to hear of reports indicating crop yields in many areas are doing better than first anticipated. Vilsack says the Ag department will still get out the word on how farmers can get  help if their crops were lost due to drought or other issues:

In terms of the recent changes to the school lunch program, he says it's an issue of national security.

Critics have said high school students aren't getting enough to eat with the new school lunch restrictions. Vilsack says students are being encouraged to bring a snack from home if they need more to eat.
