The suspect charged in a fatal Sioux City hit and run accident in May has pleaded not guilty in the case.

22 year old Mark Beltran entered the plea to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death Tuesday in Woodbury County District Court.

Police say 70-year-old Robert Ibsgaard of Sioux City, was walking in a crosswalk on www.ukvenues.co.uk May 29th when he was struck by a car driven by Beltran.

Police allege Beltran then drove to a parking lot and ran off. He was arrested a short time later.

Ibsgaard died several days after the accident.

Beltran also is charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, failure to report a crash, no proof of insurance and driving with a suspended license.

A trial date for Beltran has not been set.
