SIOUX CITY OFFICIALS ARE MONITORING THE BIG SIOUX RIVER, WHICH IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO RISE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER JADE DUNDAS SAYS WORK IS UNDERWAY TO PREVENT FLOODING IN THE RIVERSIDE AREA:

THE LEVELS OF THE BIG SIOUX RIVER ARE EXPECTED TO RESULT IN FLOOD GATE CLOSURES ALONG WITH THE LEVEE EXTENSION ACTIONS.

THE TEMPORARY LEVEE STRUCTURES WILL BE BUILT ON RIVER DRIVE.

THE LEVEE STRUCTURE WILL ONLY IMPACT 3-5 HOUSES IN THE AREA.

THOSE RESIDENTS HAVE BEEN CONTACTED DIRECTLY TO EXPLAIN THE IMPACTS OF THIS CONSTRUCTION.

DUNDAS DOESN’T EXPECT MANY OTHER RIVERSIDE HOMES TO BE IMPACTED:

CONSTRUCTION OF THE LEVEE EXTENSION ON RIVER DRIVE BEGAN TUESDAY.

RIVER DRIVE WILL BE CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC FROM GOLDIE AVENUE TO BECK STREET UNTIL FRIDAY, JUNE 27TH.
