Talk Radio 1360 am – Sioux City, Iowa

The heavy rains and runoffs of Saturday and Monday night led to a rise on Perry Creek Tuesday morning.

Assistant City Fire Chief Jim Clark says at approximately 4:00 AM the decision was made to notify residents along Perry Creek that the creek was rising.

OC….IN THE MORNING. :23

Members of Sioux City Police Department and Sioux City Fire Rescue went door to door in the Country Club, Dearborn, and Concordia Drive areas to notify residents that they should monitor their basements.

Perry Creek crested at approximately 4:45 AM at 24 Feet.

There was some minor flooding of yards and some street flooding.

Clark says the flood control project that cleared the creek channel after 1990′s flooding helped keep the situation under control:

OC…..HAD THAT FLOOD. :18

Emergency personnel will also be monitoring the Big Sioux River that is predicted to crest later this week.
