Former Iowa Hawkeye basketball player Zach McCabe was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly punching a man inside an Iowa City bar.

The 22 year old McCabe, who is from Sioux City, turned himself in to the Johnson County Jail, where’s he was being held on a $1,500 cash or surety bond.

McCabe is charged with assault causing bodily injury.

Court documents say McCabe allegedly punched a man in the face just after midnight Friday morning.

Police obtained security video that showed McCabe and a woman were arguing. The alleged victim tried to separate McCabe from the woman before McCabe punched him.

Police say McCabe then blew him a kiss and walked out of the door.

McCabe appeared in a school record 137 games during his four-years with the Hawkeyes.
