Two Sioux City men charged in the kidnapping of a Briar Cliff University student have each been sentenced to over 10 years in federal prison.
20 year old Trey Michael Boykin was sentenced to 12 years and 7 months after a jury found him guilty of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and one count of kidnapping.
24 year old Gary Patterson was sentenced to 11 years and 2 months after a guilty plea to charges of kidnapping and 4 gun related counts.
Prosecutors say in February of 2013, Boykin and Patterson drove to Briar Cliff and lured a student into their vehicle with texted promises of marijuana.
Boykin and Patterson then prevented the victim from leaving the vehicle, drove several miles from the campus, and robbed the victim at gun point.
They then used the stolen money to pay off an old drug debt and acquire more marijuana.
