A MAN WHO LEFT HIS CORVETTE ALONG A RURAL STRETCH OF HIGHWAY 75 MONDAY MORNING WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY A WOODBURY COUNTY DEPUTY.

THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT SAYS 23 YEAR OLD ZACHARY ALLEN OF TEXARCANA, ARKANSAS APPARENTLY RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY BETWEEN SALIX AND SLOAN AROUND 8:30AM.

WHILE ALLEN WAS GONE TO GET GAS, A DEPUTY RESPONDED TO THE CALL OF AN ABANDONED CORVETTE PARTLY ON THE ROADWAY.

WHEN ALLEN RETURNED, THE DEPUTY’S K-9 REACTED THAT THERE COULD BE CONTRABAND IN THE CAR.

AUTHORITIES FOUND A LUGER LONG BARRELLED HANDGUN IN THE VEHICLE PLUS POSSIBLE DRUG RESIDUE.

WHEN THEY RAN A CHECK ON ALLEN, THEY DISCOVERED HE WAS WANTED IN ARKANSAS ON FELONY WARRANTS FOR KIDNAPPING, RAPE AND BATTERY.

THE SUSPECT WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AND IS BEING HELD IN THE WOODBURY COUNTY JAIL ON THE ARKANSAS CHARGES.
