ONE PERSON IS DEAD FOLLOWING A TWO VEHICLE COLLISION ON THE HIGHWAY 20 BYPASS BETWEEN SUNNYBROOK DRIVE AND MORNINGSIDE AVENUE WEDNESDAY MORNING.

SIOUX CITY POLICE SAY THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED AROUND 7:40AM WHEN A CAR APPARENTLY CROSSED THE MEDIAN FROM THE WESTBOUND LANE AND COLLIDED HEAD ON WITH AN ONCOMING PICK UP TRUCK IN THE EASTBOUND LANES.

THE DRIVER OF THE CAR WAS EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.

THE PICK UP TRUCK DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO MERCY MEDICAL CENTER, WHERE HE WAS TREATED AND RELEASED.

TRAFFIC WAS DETOURED AWAY FROM THE EASTBOUND LANES THROUGH THE MORNING AS THOSE LANES WERE CLOSED FOR HOURS.
