The Nebraska State Patrol has announced plans to close its Norfolk Communications Center within a month.

The shutdown is part of a plan to reduce dispatch centers in the state from six to three.

Colonel David Sankey, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol, says technological advancements have made it possible to dispatch calls for service in a more efficient and i use it cost effective manner.”

The agency will consolidate its Troop B- Norfolk Communications Center in mid-May with calls for service to be dispatched out of Lincoln.

Lincoln began dispatching overnight calls for Troop B in January in preparation for the consolidation.
