SIOUX CITY RESIDENTS HAD TO EVACUATE THEIR HOMES LASTNIGHT AFTER A NATURAL GAS LEAK.

CITY POLICE AND FIRE OFFICIALS WERE DISPATCHED TO 1223 26TH STREET AT 5:37 FOR A VEHICLE THAT LEFT THE ROADWAY, WENT THROUGH A YARD AND STRUCK THE SIDE OF A HOUSE.

DURING THE COLLISION, AN EXTERNAL NATURAL GAS PIPE WAS DAMAGED, RELEASING GAS INTO THE AIR.

OFFICERS BLOCKED OFF THE AREA, WHILE FIRE CREWS EVACUATED NEARBY RESIDENTS.

MIDAMERICAN ENERGY REPAIRED THE DAMAGED GAS LINE AND NO ONE WAS INJURED.

47 YEAR OLD HUONG THI NGUYEN WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE UP A HILL IN THE 2600 BLOCK OF WALL STREET WHEN SHE SLID BACKWARD INTO THE HOUSE.

LATER IN THE NIGHT, SHE RETURNED TO THE SCENE AND WAS ISSUED A FAILURE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL CITATION.
