Several northwest Iowa fire departments battled a large grass fire Thursday afternoon that burned around 50 acres.
Six different departments were called around 1:30 p.m. to help fight the blaze at near the border between Plymouth and Sioux Counties about a mile north of Struble.
Le Mars Fire Chief Dave Schipper says a spark from a passing train is thought to
have started the fire.

Fire officials had to stop the trains while battling the blaze.
Schipper says the winds, and thawing ground made for adverse conditions in fighting the fire.
