Congressman Bruce Braley launched his Iowa Works tour with stops in Salix and Council Bluffs Wednesday.
The Democratic candidate for the U.S.Senate is highlighting the need to strengthen Iowa’s middle class and create good-paying jobs.
Braley talked with workers at the Kvidera Company in Salix:
OC………looking for work. ;24
Braley says there is a big demand for skilled tradesmen in Iowa, but there’s a challenge in training those workers:
OC…SKILLED TRADES. :25
Braley says Iowa’s families feel like they’re being squeezed by rising costs and limited opportunities.
He favors expanding tax cuts for working families and raising the minimum wage as changes that would go a long way toward strengthening the middle class.
Braley, who waited tables to help pay his way through college, also visited Duncan’s Cafe in Council Bluffs to speak with employees and customers – and even served a few cups of coffee.
