SOMEONE PRETENDING TO BE A POLICE OFFICER IS CALLING SIOUX CITY AREA RESIDENTS TRYING TO SCAM MONEY FROM THEM.

SIOUX CITY POLICE SAY THE CALLER HAS IDENTIFIED HIMSELF AS “LIEUTENANT HARRIS” WITH THE SHERIFF’S OR POLICE DEPARTMENT.

THE INDIVIDUAL USES WHAT APPEARS TO BE A LOCAL NUMBER AND CLAIMS THE PERSON THEY ARE CALLING HAS MISSED THEIR COURT APPOINTED JURY SELECTION TIME.

HE TELLS HIS VICTIMS THEY CAN PAY A $450 FINE OR HAVE AN OFFICER SENT TO THEIR HOME AND FACE BEING ARRESTED.

THE PERSON HAS A STRONG SOUTHERN ACCENT AND IS VERY PERSISTENT.

THE POLICE DEPARTMENT DID SPEAK TO A PERSON CLAIMING TO BE A LIEUTENANT HARRIS, BUT THE PERSON HUNG UP ON THEM.

THE SIOUX CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT AND WOODBURY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT NEVER CALL CITIZENS AND SOLICIT MONEY OVER THE PHONE.
