BUENA VISTA COUNTY SHERIFF GARY LAUNDERVILLE SAYS THEY RECEIVED A CALL AT 4:22 P.M., REPORTING A CANADIAN NATIONAL TRAIN VERSUS CAR ACCIDENT.

UPON ARRIVAL, FOUR OCCUPANTS WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED AND HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM THE CAR.

ALL FOUR VICTIMS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE BUENA VISTA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER.

THE TWO KIDS, AGES 2 AND 4, WERE LIFE-FLIGHTED TO A PEDIATRIC TRAUMA CENTER IN SIOUX FALLS.

AN INVESTIGATION SHOWS THE CAR WAS TRAVELING NORTHBOUND ON MAIN STREET IN ALTA WHEN IT WAS STRUCK BY A WESTBOUND TRAIN.
