GAS TAX HIKE NEEDED FOR IOWA ROAD REPAIRS

THE IOWA LEGISLATURE WILL LIKELY CONSIDER AN INCREASE IN THE STATE’S GAS TAX IN THEIR 2013 SESSION.

CHARESE YANNEY OF SIOUX CITY IS ONE THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.

YANNEY SAYS THE TAX HASN’T BEEN RAISED IN 20 YEARS AND AN INCREASE IS NEEDED TO FUND NEW ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIRS:

AND WHILE SOME SAY AN INCREASE WOULD COST IOWA BUSINESS OWNERS AN EXTRA 20 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR IN TAXES, YANNEY SAYS SHE THINKS MANY BUSINESSES WILL PAY THAT IF IT MEANS IMPROVED HIGHWAYS:
