LIBERTY PARK PROJECT UPDATE

ONE WOODBURY COUNTY TOWN HAS PULLED ITS SUPPORT WHILE ANOTHER SAYS IT IS STILL BACKING THE PROPOSED LIBERTY PARK INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT.

THE CITY OF SALIX HAS SENT A LETTER TO WOODBURY COUNTY SAYING IT HAS WITHDRAWN SUPPORT FOR THE PROJECT OVER CONCERNS THAT THE PORT NEAL I-29 INTERCHANGE COULD BE REMOVED.

COUNTY SUPERVISORS CHAIRWOMAN JACKIE SMITH SAYS SHE’S DISAPPOINTED BY THE DECISION, BUT HOPES SALIX WILL RECONSIDER:

SMITH SAYS SHE WOULD LIKE TO SEE BOTH THE EXISTING PORT NEAL INTERCHANGE CONTINUE WHERE IT IS, WITH A NEW EXIT BUILT FOR LIBERTY PARK:

SMITH SAYS SUPERVISORS WILL NEXT CONSIDER HIRING MC CLURE ENGINEERING OF DES MOINES TO CONTINUING DEVELOPING PROJECT PLANS AND FACILITATING MEETINGS BETWEEN RESIDENTS, BUSINESSPEOPLE AND THE COUNTY AND STATE.
