ONE OF THE AIRLINES COMPETING TO PROVIDE AIR SERVICE IN SIOUX CITY HAS BEEN HIT WITH A HEAVY FINE BY THE  U. S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.

AMERICAN EAGLE AIRLINES HAS BEEN FINED $900,000 FOR TARMAC DELAYS AT CHICAGO’S O’HARE AIRPORT ON MAY 29TH.

AMERICAN EAGLE BECOMES THE 1ST AIRLINE FINED FOR VIOLATING THE D-O-T RULE SETTING A 3 HOUR LIMIT FOR TARMAC DELAYS ON DOMESTIC FLIGHTS.

THE MAY 29TH DELAYS WERE ON 15 FLIGHTS AFFECTING 608 PASSENGERS ARRIVING AT O’HARE LASTING UP TO 45 MINUTES OVER THE LIMIT.

AMERICAN EAGLE IS COMPETING WITH DELTA SKY WEST FOR AN FEDERAL ESSENTIAL AIR SERVICE GRANT TO PROVIDE FLIGHTS OUT OF SIOUX CITY.

AMERICAN EAGLE HAS NOT RESPONDED TO A REQUEST FOR COMMENT ON THE FINE.
