GOOGLED LEVEES HOLD STRONG

SIOUX CITY—GOOGLED LEVEES HELD WELL AT THE HILTON GARDEN INN AND BEV’S ON THE RIVER DURING THE 2011 MISSOURI RIVER FLOOD.

GENERAL MANAGER AMANDA SNOOZY SAYS THEY HAD LESS THAN A WEEK TO PREPARE FOR THE FLOOD THAT BEGAN IN JUNE.

SNOOZY SAYS WITH SUCH LIMITED NOTICE, THEY TURNED TO GOOGLE FOR THE “HOW TO” TO BUILD LEVEES.

THE LEVEES WORKED BECAUSE BEV’S AND THE HILTON GARDEN INN IN SIOUX CITY ARE DRY!

THERE’S ROUGHLY 3 TO 4 FEET OF SAND INSIDE OF JOLLY ROGERS AND THE GAZEBO, WHICH SERVED AS A WAY FOR MANY TO MEASURE THE FLOOD.

JOLLY ROGERS WILL OPEN NEXT SPRING, WHILE THE MARINA’S FUTURE IS UP IN THE AIR WITH THE UNCERTAIN DEGREDATION OF THE RIVER.

SNOOZY SAYS IT’S BEEN A ROUGH SUMMER WITH THE FLOOD AND CO-OWNER LARRY MILLER’S DEATH, BUT THEY’RE COMING BACK BIGGER AND BETTER.

BEV’S AND THE HILTON GARDEN INN ARE EXPECTED TO REOPEN SEPTEMBER 15TH.
