FOUR ESCAPE SIOUX CITY FIRE

SIOUX CITY—ONE ADULT AND THREE CHILDREN ESCAPED INJURY MONDAY FROM A STRUCTURE FIRE.

SIOUX CITY FIRE PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER JOE RODROGUEZ SAYS FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO THE BLAZE AT 1524 WEST 6TH STREET AT 12:46 P.M.

UPON ARRIVAL, RESPONDERS REPORTED LIGHT SMOKE VISIBLE FROM THE FRONT OF THE TWO STORY STRUCTURE.

AT THE TIME, 1 ADULT AND 3 KIDS WERE INSIDE THE HOUSE AND WERE ABLE TO EXIT WITHOUT INJURY.

A SCHOOL BUS DRIVER NOTIFIED THE OCCUPANT OF THE FIRE. THE STRUCTURE SUSTAINED SEVERE SMOKE AND MODERATE FIRE DAMAGE AND HAS BEEN RED-TAGGED BY THE CITY.

DEPUTY FIRE MARSHAL TROY HEDLUND HAS DETERMINED THE CAUSE TO BE A BREAKDOWN IN THE SECOND FLOOR ELECTRICAL WIRING IN THE CEILING, WHICH IGNITED INSULATION AND SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE STRUCTURE.

THE SIOUXLAND RED CROSS IS ASSISTING OWNERS JOSE AND PATRICIA ESCOBEDO AT THIS TIME.
